Will Community Engagement Forums really make a difference?
Community Engagement Forums are now in place in all parts of the district. Click here to find out how they are already making improvements to local communities. The success of the Forums depends on you and your involvement. What would make a lasting difference to the place where you live? The more people have their say, the more information the organisations delivering local services have about what needs to be done in a particular area.
Does my voice really count?
Comments raised by residents through Community Engagement Forums influence the work programmes of those organisations delivering local services. The Forums are also a way for you to hold these organisations to account.
Decisions about actions taken must, of course, rest with the organisations delivering local services, but all are signed-up to the engagement process and the need to give people more of a say.
How do I get involved?
Just turn up at your local Forum meeting or you can submit comments using this website: click here for more on this. The latest details about meetings can be found on this website (see the individual area pages), and are also advertised locally. You don't need to book a place at the meetings, just turn up and have your say!
What if only a few people get involved with these meetings?
All of the organisations involved work hard to publicise the meetings as widely as possible and ensure as many people as possible know about them so they can attend if they wish. If you'd like to help publicise Community Engagement Forum meetings in your local area then please get in touch. Contact Mike James at Selby District Council: (01757) 292088 or email [email protected].
What happens after I've made my point?
Depending on the issue raised, it is likely that the organisations involved will have to discuss the best way to solve the problem or address the concern. They will work out what actions they can take by working together - they will then report back on progress at future meetings.
